A little bit about me
I'm Scott Mangiapane, a software engineer in Chicago, IL. I write a lot of code, but I have other hobbies as well... swimming, tennis, piano, chess, and leathercraft to name a few. Most recently, I've been learning the bass guitar.
My engineering journey
I started programming on my TI-84 graphing calculator back in high school. I didn't have a smartphone at the time, so I made my own versions of popular phone games on my calculator and distributed them to my classmates (to the dismay of my math teachers). I've come a long way since then but have maintained that same enthusiasm.
I graduated from Purdue in 2019, then spent the next five years building the API and dashboard for GoDaddy's VPS (virtual private server) product. Most recently, I've joined Docusign as a full-stack engineer on their CLM (contract lifecycle management) team.

Some piano
I'm a casual piano player- I don't know theory and my timing is all over the place. But it's a lot of fun and I've memorized quite a bit of music at this point. This song is my favorite: "Baba Yetu". It was originally composed by @christophertin for the game Civilization IV. The cover I play in the video was arranged by @lara6683.

Current chess stats
I grew up playing chess with my dad and started taking it seriously in the last couple of years. There's something beautiful about how a few pieces following simple rules can come together to create something incredibly complex.
